Friday - 05/14/2021 — So now you get to see what the succulent/mug gift was packed in on Mother’s Day. It turns out the purple bag—see last Wednesday’s post—had been hiding in a box in Veronica’s basement since 2013. She found it a couple of weeks ago when she was looking for something else altogether. Talk about serendipity!
This is the 18-inch-longbag that my sister made back in 1972 so she could wrap a present in it. After all these years, I have no recollection of what the present was, but the bag has endured. The following year I sent it to one of my sisters-in-law, enclosing a Christmas present (again, no memory of what it was). From there it ping-ponged back and forth until I got it back in 1977.
As you can see from the photo, I’d made a card that second year to show the history of the bag, and each recipient added to the list as they sent it around the family.
By the time the bag “disappeared” in 2013, it had 4 cards’ worth of To/From info on it.
Not a bad history for 50 years. In a couple of weeks I’ll tell you about an interesting detour it took somewhere along the way.
