Friday - 10/15/2021 — Have you noticed over the past couple of decades how many words are shifting their meanings? Bad used to mean bad. Then somewhere along the line it came to mean good.
Then there’s the word hacking. To hack used to mean to cut something into pieces with heavy blows. Then it meant to gain unauthorized access to data in a computer system. But now, or at least in the last decade, a hacker became an incredibly adept computer whiz.
How did that happen? And now here’s a meme showing how to “hack” happiness chemicals. I agree with the general principle. I just wish whoever wrote this had said “how to unlock them” or “how to access them.”
To an old fart like me, that alternate wording seems clearer.
